We all know about the wonderful robot vacuum cleaners that sweep the floor, keep hair, dust, and small debris. However, they don’t do wet cleaning. Nevertheless, don’t rush to get upset, you won’t have to walk with a damp rag and a bucket anymore. Robot mops will come to the rescue.
The main function of the floor mop is hidden in its very name – this device performs wet floor cleaning by wiping. This is its main difference from a vacuum cleaner. It doesn’t have a suction mechanism so it cannot replace a robot vacuum cleaner. However, it should be said that there are also models that combine the functions of a floor robot mop and a vacuum cleaner. So, the effect that you achieve using a robot mop will be similar to that which occurs after mechanical cleaning of the floor with a cloth or mop. There are not so many types of models for household home cleaning – they are divided into “manual” devices (which, in turn, are divided into battery and network), and robots.
Let’s take a closer look at the category of robot mops and discuss the three best models. Robot mops are small round or rectangular devices capable of moving independently on the floor, cleaning it from dust and dirt. They do the wet cleaning with a special water container or microfiber wet wipes. Dry cleaning is also possible with a special turbo brush. You need to turn on the device, install a container with water or wet a rag.
iRobot Braava 380t
One of the globally recognized American companies iRobot has been working with robotics for many years, and now it’s developed Braava 380t robot mop.
Unlike most modern tablet-shaped devices, the iRobot model is square. This form increases the efficiency of cleaning corners and the floor in close proximity to the walls. This robot can carry out both wet and dry cleaning and uses reusable cloth. For wet cleaning, mop provides a container with water or detergent. From here, the liquid comes to a soft cloth in small doses. Since the mop doesn’t have a container, all the dirt is collected on the damp cloth, after cleaning you need only to rinse it in clean water. Experts advise not to use this mopping robot for carpet cleaning, as the cloth clings to the pile. Also, before starting the vacuum cleaner, you need to collect small objects, lift the curtains, and remove the wires.
The height of the mopping robot iRobot Braava 380t is not large, so it cleans under low objects and furniture without problems. The model is equipped with a 2000 mAh battery, thanks to which the mop operates in the “vacuum cleaner” mode for 150 minutes and the wet cleaning mode for 240 minutes. The duration of charging at the station is two hours.
Like all robots, the Braava 380t is well oriented in space. Navigation is carried out through a special cube, installed in the center of the room. The cube projects the marking on the ceiling by which the smart cleaner is oriented. Perceiving signals, it builds a map and determines his location on it.
So, this model is perfect for cleaning any home. The robot works quietly, efficiently, for a long time, and costs very little for such a useful device – about 250-300 dollars.
HOBOT Legee 668
The washing robot HOBOT Legee 668, as well as the previous one, has the function of dry cleaning. The robot is designed primarily for work on a hard surface such as tiles, laminate, or linoleum. The Legee 668 floor mop is capable of scrubbing even the oldest spots thanks to a movable panel and works in several rooms up to 150 sq.m.
This time we are dealing with a D-shaped case design, which also allows you to perfectly clean along the walls and in the corners. The robot has a powerful Li-Pol 3000 mAh battery capable of ensuring uninterrupted operation for 90 minutes, a separate 500 ml garbage collection container, a HEPA filter for the smallest dust particles, an automatic function of return to the charging station.
The mop uses several unique cleaning systems. First, the kit includes two vibro mops. They work together and provide maximum effect. Secondly, the device determines the amount of work and automatically sprays the washing liquid on the surface in the required amount.
The robot navigates through a laser sensor, a steering angle sensor, and an electronic compass, which send the robot information about its location. On this data, he builds a map of the room and later guides it.
Unlike the Braava robot mop, this device has a powerful vacuum cleaner that performs the initial dry cleaning of the floor. It sucks up petty litter, hair, and pet fur. During wet cleaning, the robot works with two clothes that mimic the movement of hands to remove dried stains and debris from the floor. Microdroplet spraying of water is the third stage of cleaning that softens dried stains and dirt not removed during wiping. The back cleaning cloth not only absorbs moisture and wipes stains and dirt, but also polishes the floor.

This year, one well-known manufacturer from China, Chuwi, presented its new product – the mopping robot iLife V8s. This device is designed for dry and full wet cleaning of all types of flooring.
The design of the robot mop iLife V8s is classic round and pretty concise. On the bottom side, there are two rubber wheels, height sensors, two side brushes, a suction inlet, and an area for fastening a microfiber cloth.
In general, the cleaning process comes as follows. Dry cleaning of the floor is carried out by side brushes, which sweep debris to the suction inlet. It directs dust inside the container through HEPA filter. Then you need to replace the dust collector with a container of liquid. Then you install a microfiber cloth on the bottom of the robot. iLife V8s provides the “i-Dropping” technology, implying a uniform flow of fluid to the cloth during the work.
Robot mop is equipped with a Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery, the battery lasts up to 120 minutes. Your device will be charged in 4-5 hours. It’s worth noting a large container for dust and debris with a volume of 750 ml, which, together with a powerful vacuum, will collect all the dry trash before wet cleaning.
The main distinctive feature of the iLife V8s robot mop cleaner is i-Move technology, which allows the device to independently plan the optimal movement pattern and memorize the places already passed. This saves battery consumption and reduces operating time. Orientation occurs due to the installed 13 groups of infrared sensors that prevent the robot from colliding with obstacles and falling from elevations. A gyroscope allows you to scan the room and divide it into separate zones for sequential cleaning.
